About this tool

SkillEvaluator is NVIDIA's open-source agent evaluation framework for running agent evaluation tests. It provides a tiered testing approach: fast unit tests by default, end-to-end integration tests, and live tests against an in-process Harbor backend. Live evaluation reads provider and agent credentials from your environment, never from the repo (with NVIDIA Build, one NVIDIA_API_KEY covers both roles). Two pytest markers are excluded by default, so slow and credentialed tests never block the everyday loop. The tool targets data center operators, physical AI developers, and AI developers, and runs on Linux.

Best for
  • AI developers who need to evaluate AI agents
  • Developers building Physical AI systems
  • Teams running agent evaluation tests on Linux
Use cases
  • Running agent evaluation tests
  • Executing end-to-end integration tests
  • Running live tests against an in-process Harbor backend
  • Quickly running unit tests in the development loop
Strengths
  • Open source, free to use and modify
  • Tiered testing mechanism adapts to different evaluation needs
  • Credentials read from environment variables, avoiding repo leaks
  • Slow and credentialed tests excluded by default, keeping the development loop efficient
Limitations
  • Linux only
  • Pricing model unknown
  • Medium learning curve
